X-Ray Sensor

The ultra-thin sensor, Durable, waterproof, and always ready.

I. Core Technology and Image Quality

Advanced Sensor Technology
Appledental utilizes advanced sensor technologies such as APS CMOS or Photon Counting Detector Technology, which enable highly efficient conversion of X-ray photons directly into digital signals. This ensures excellent image acquisition with optimized performance and diagnostic reliability.

Cesium Iodide Scintillator (CsI)
Many models incorporate a direct-deposition Cesium Iodide (CsI) scintillator. This material provides superior image clarity and high-resolution detail while operating at comparatively lower radiation doses than older technologies, enhancing both diagnostic accuracy and patient safety.

High Resolution
The sensor offers impressive resolution capabilities, with a theoretical resolution of up to 25 line pairs per millimeter (lp/mm) and a true resolution that often exceeds 20 lp/mm. This high level of detail allows for accurate visualization of fine anatomical structures, early carious lesions, and subtle periodontal changes.

Fast Imaging
The entire imaging process—from X-ray exposure to image display—is exceptionally fast, often taking three seconds or less. This significantly improves patient throughput and reduces overall chair time.

II. Ergonomics, Durability, and Hygiene

Patient Comfort (Ultra-Thin Design)
The sensor is designed with patient comfort as a priority, featuring an ultra-thin profile that can be as slim as 4.4 mm, along with rounded ergonomic corners. This allows for easier, less painful intraoral placement, especially for challenging posterior or vertical bitewing radiographs.

Robust Durability
The casing is engineered for high reliability, featuring shock-resistant and bite-resistant construction. The integrated cable is highly flexible and can withstand more than 70,000 bending cycles, ensuring long-term durability under daily clinical use.

IP68 Rating
The sensor often carries an IP68 rating, meaning it is completely dustproof and waterproof. This allows it to be safely immersed in disinfecting solutions, ensuring thorough hygienic maintenance and enhanced safety protection.

Sizing Options
The sensor is available in standard clinical sizes, including Size 1 for anterior regions and pediatric use, and Size 2 for posterior, bitewing, and adult periapical imaging.

III. Software and Workflow Integration

Powerful Post-Processing Software
The system is supported by intelligent, user-friendly imaging software that includes multiple post-processing algorithms. These tools enhance contrast, sharpness, and edge detection, allowing clinicians to fine-tune images for optimal diagnostic interpretation.

Universal Connectivity
Using a high-speed USB 2.0 interface, the sensor supports rapid data transmission for real-time imaging. It is also TWAIN-compatible, allowing seamless integration with most dental practice management and imaging software across Windows-based systems.
