Columbia curettes 4R-4L

EGP950.00

The Universal Workhorse.

Universal Curette Design

The Columbia 4R/4L is classified as a universal curette, meaning it features two cutting edges on each blade, a rounded toe, and is suitable for use on all tooth surfaces—mesial, distal, buccal, and lingual. This versatility allows clinicians to perform both supragingival and subgingival scaling with a single instrument.

Double-Ended Working Configuration

This is a double-ended instrument, with 4R (Right) and 4L (Left) working ends. The blades are mirror images of each other, enabling efficient adaptation to different areas of the mouth without the need to rotate the instrument excessively.

Posterior Access Specialist

The Columbia 4R/4L design is specifically favored for posterior teeth, including molars and premolars. Its terminal shank is more deeply angled than that of other universal curettes (such as the Barnhart 5–6). This enhanced angulation provides excellent access to deep periodontal pockets, furcation areas, and posterior line angles, which are often difficult to reach.

Calculus Removal Performance

The instrument is highly effective for the removal of moderate to heavy calculus deposits, both supragingivally (above the gingival margin) and subgingivally (below the gingival margin). Its design supports powerful yet controlled scaling strokes, making it a reliable tool for periodontal debridement.

A-Titan Material and Manufacturing Quality

A-Titan curettes are typically manufactured in the USA from 100% high-grade stainless steel, ensuring excellent durability, resistance to corrosion, and compatibility with repeated sterilization cycles.

Blade Technology and Edge Retention

A-Titan often incorporates advanced blade technologies (such as ion-charging or surface treatment processes) to enhance edge retention. This results in longer-lasting sharpness, reduced sharpening frequency, and consistent clinical performance over time.

Ergonomic Handle Options

The instrument is available with various ergonomic handle designs, such as Life Steel or D-Lite handles. These are typically lightweight, well-balanced, and feature diamond knurling or textured surfaces to provide a secure, non-slip grip and reduce hand fatigue during extended periodontal procedures.

Implant-Safe Variant (Optional)

A-Titan also offers a Titanium Implant Curette version of the Columbia 4R/4L. This variant features non-scratching titanium tips and a color-coded handle (often green), making it safe for use around titanium dental implants and abutments without damaging their surfaces.
