Key Features and Technology

Material and Construction
Meisinger burs are manufactured from high-grade tungsten carbide, a material significantly harder than steel. They feature a robust, corrosion-resistant stainless steel shank and are typically produced as a single-piece construction, eliminating welding seams and stress points. This design ensures exceptional concentricity and reduced vibration during operation.

Superior Cutting Efficiency
The cutting blades are precision-ground with optimized geometries, including specific rake angles, clearance angles, and flute depths. This advanced design enables fast, aggressive, yet smooth cutting of enamel, dentin, amalgam, and other restorative materials. The reduced cutting time also minimizes heat generation and patient discomfort.

Concentricity and Reduced Vibration
Thanks to strict manufacturing tolerances, Meisinger burs exhibit very low run-out and high concentricity. This superior balance minimizes vibration and chatter during use, resulting in smoother cutting surfaces, improved tactile control, and enhanced clinical precision.

Durability and Longevity
The extreme hardness of tungsten carbide provides excellent edge retention, allowing the burs to maintain their cutting efficiency over multiple uses and repeated sterilization cycles. This ensures high reliability, long service life, and excellent cost-effectiveness.

Variety of Shapes and Shank Types
Meisinger offers an extensive range of carbide burs in a wide variety of head shapes such as round, inverted cone, straight fissure, tapered fissure, and pear. They are also available in different cut patterns including plain, cross-cut, and fine cross-cut. The burs are manufactured for all standard handpiece connections:

  • FG (Friction Grip): For high-speed handpieces

  • RA (Right Angle/Latch): For low-speed contra-angle handpieces

  • HP (Handpiece): For straight low-speed handpieces

Clinical Applications

Meisinger Carbide Burs are used throughout nearly all phases of restorative and surgical dentistry. They are essential for rapid and controlled cavity preparation, allowing efficient removal of carious tissue. They are widely used in crown preparation for initial tooth reduction and refinement of shoulder or chamfer margins. They are also highly effective for amalgam and composite removal, cutting efficiently through existing restorations. Additionally, finishing and trimming burs in the Meisinger range provide precise contouring and surface refinement of restorations.
