STRAIGHT ARTICULATING PAPER

EGP200.00

Pinpoint accuracy for predictable occlusion

Key Features and Function

Primary Function (Occlusal Analysis)
The primary purpose of articulating paper is to accurately mark occlusal contact points when the patient bites down. This allows the clinician to identify high spots, which are premature or excessively heavy contacts that may cause patient discomfort, restoration fracture, or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems. It also helps analyze both centric contacts (static biting) and excursive contacts (side-to-side and forward movements).

Material and Ink Quality
The paper is typically manufactured from a thin, high-strength fibrous material or treated film that is impregnated with a marking agent (ink or dye). Swedent articulating papers are known for their high-definition, non-smearing ink, which transfers clean, sharp, and highly accurate markings onto tooth surfaces and restorations.

Thickness Variations for Clinical Precision
Swedent articulating paper is available in different thicknesses to meet various diagnostic needs:

  • Thick Paper (Standard): Used for identifying gross contact areas and obvious high spots, especially on rough surfaces.

  • Thin Paper / Micro-Thin Film: Used for precise detection of subtle occlusal contacts, which is essential for fine adjustments and polishing of finished restorations.

Color-Coding for Functional Differentiation
The paper is available in high-contrast colors, commonly red and blue or green and black. Clinicians frequently use two different colors sequentially to distinguish between:

  • Centric Contacts (e.g., Red): Static bite points.

  • Excursive Contacts (e.g., Blue): Contacts formed during functional and grinding movements.

Form and Clinical Presentation
Swedent articulating paper is typically supplied in pre-cut straight strips or horseshoe-shaped forms for easy placement. It may also be packaged in a plastic dispenser box or used with a dedicated ergonomic forceps (holder) to ensure controlled, hygienic, and precise intraoral placement.
