Light-Cured Polymer
Block-Dam is a single-component, light-cured resin that polymerizes rapidly when exposed to a dental curing light. This allows the clinician to maintain full control over placement and working time, as curing only begins when light is applied.

Low Viscosity / Flowable Consistency
The material has a flowable, gel-like consistency, enabling precise dispensing through a syringe. It easily flows into small undercuts, grooves, pits, and complex anatomical contours, ensuring accurate adaptation.

Primary Applications

Block-Out
Block-Dam is widely used during restorative and impression procedures to fill or block out undesirable undercuts in tooth preparations or around provisional restorations.

Custom Isolation / Light-Cured Dam
It can be used to create a gingival barrier or custom light-cured dam to protect soft tissues during procedures involving etching agents, bleaching materials, or other harsh chemicals. Once cured, it forms a strong, temporary protective seal.

Minor Repair and Sealing
Block-Dam is also useful for temporary sealing of access openings, repairing minor rubber dam tears, or creating custom isolation barriers when standard isolation is insufficient.

Color, Visibility, and Removal

Color and Visual Control
The material is typically supplied in a high-contrast color (often blue), ensuring excellent visibility against both tooth and gingival tissues. This makes accurate placement and complete removal easy to verify.

Easy Removal
After completion of the procedure, Block-Dam can be quickly and easily removed by gentle peeling or light scraping from both hard and soft tissues, leaving no residue behind.
