Key Features and Advantages
Optimalloy Construction
The crowns are manufactured from Optimalloy, a custom-developed stainless steel alloy created through collaborative research, often with Seoul University in Korea. This specialized alloy is engineered to provide exceptional metallurgical properties that are ideally suited for pediatric dental applications.
Perfected Anatomy and Shape
The crowns are pre-festooned at the gingival margin, which significantly reduces the need for chairside trimming and contouring. They are anatomically shaped to closely mimic the natural contour of primary molars, ensuring accurate fit and proper occlusion. Additionally, they are typically designed to be slightly shorter than many competing crowns, further minimizing trimming time.
Differential Durability
The crown design achieves an optimal balance between strength and malleability. The occlusal surface is reinforced to resist abrasion, wear, and perforation from chewing forces. In contrast, the cervical area remains pliable, allowing for easy crimping and close adaptation to the tooth margin to ensure optimal retention.
Biocompatibility and Hygiene
The crowns feature a high surface gloss and often incorporate a transparent ceramic or bio-identical coating. This minimizes food accumulation and plaque retention, supporting improved oral hygiene. They are also manufactured with reduced nickel content compared to many traditional stainless steel crowns, enhancing overall biocompatibility.
Sizing and Kits
The system provides extensive sizing options, typically offering six different sizes for each primary molar. This ensures a precise fit for more than 80% of pediatric patients. The crowns are available in convenient starter kits as well as refill packs to support efficient clinical workflow.
